K'Alii-Aksim lisims excellence in fisheries management by the people of the Nass River

Kineticvideo.com (Firm) (Added Author).

Summary: "For thousands of years, the Nisga'a have been a people of the River, where all five species of salmon flourish. In order to maintain sustainability in the fishery, all aspects, from maintenance of the essential health of the river - to the marketing of the final products, are at the heart of the Treaty between the Nisga'a Government and the Federal Government, and are the responsibility of Nisga'a Fisheries. Working closely with DFO consultants and LGL, the Nisga'a Fisheries Management determined that their own people should receive training and become qualified experts. It is they who do all the work on the river. "This is probably as good as it gets in fisheries management", says Federal Report author David Levy, one of Canada's top salmon biologists."--
